About Me
Welcome to my portfolio!
I am Carolina, a highly skilled and self-motivated engineer with a Master’s in Computer Science and a bachelor's in Mechatronics Engineering. I have over five years of experience in the development of complex mechatronic systems, involved in the mechanical and electrical design as well as programming.
Additionally, I have been directly involved in research for over three years, collaborating with various multidisciplinary teams around the world like Japan, Scotland, UAE, and Taiwan. These efforts have led to multiple successful research projects that have secured research grants and a patent for the innovative work done.
Some highlights include the design, testing, and deployment of three robotic guide dog prototypes in collaboration with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). Innovative elements of these robots include incorporating key canine features and emotional expression capabilities to enhance human-robot interaction and machine learning algorithms to control and improve emotional expression. Additionally, neural networks were used to analyze and optimize design elements for social perception and acceptance of robots.

Collaborated in the development of a robotic workshop aimed to enhance students' understanding of robotics and programming. Created a self-designed mechanism made up of 3D-printed elements. This workshop has been conducted three times with over 30 students in each session. The mechanism of the tail secured a patent for the mechanical design in May 2024.
I thrive to stay curious and creative to be able to tackle real-world challenges in an innovative way. My strong logical reasoning allows me to achieve great results and seek continuous improvement. Whether it's designing robots, optimizing processes, or developing software, I always look to excel providing exceptional results.
After investing heavily in my academic formation and skills, I am now eager to take the next step into the industry and apply my knowledge and experience in real-world projects and connect with professionals that share my vision.
